The people of Georgia have helped set a new direction for America and confirmed what the rest of the country said in November. It is time for change and time to move this nation forward, offering opportunity to every American.

The election of Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to the U.S. Senate is a historic victory for working families and the labor movement. I am especially proud of the retiree school leaders from Council of School Supervisors & Administrators (CSA), AFSA Local 1, who spent time organizing, activating and convincing Georgia voters to go to the polls and vote.

This election, like the general election in November, shows how important each and every vote is in moving the agenda of this nation and electing candidates who understand the needs of all people.

School leaders who work hard daily to support their families and educate our children now have the best opportunity to help pass laws that will support our schools and offer equity to all children—no matter your economic status, color, creed or sexual orientation.

Working together and bringing people together can find common ground to create solutions that will benefit all Americans.
